Cast members

In the thriller opening we needed four male actors who are playing the charactors Patrick Callaghan, Aidan Quinlan, Sean McLennan and Connor Malone. Our decisions for the selection of the cast were based mainly on the actors' age, as this was the most convenient way to select the four people we wanted to use as our actors. It was necessary to have an older male to play the part of Patrick Callaghan because he is in charge of the Callaghan family and leader of the crimes - it is most appropriate for this charactor to be around middle aged. He is also threatening, but the 3 other men in the film are supposed to come accross as this too. (Look at the character profiles for more explicite information on the characteristics of these men).
Our chosen actors:

Phil Buttinger as Patrick Callaghan.
We found that Buttinger looked the suitable age required for the role we wanted him to play. As you can see in the picture Buttinger has quite a 'heavy' forehead which creates a shadow around his eyes; this look was ideal for the sense of threat and danger we wanted to convey to our audience.

Leon Hogarth as Aidan Quinlan.
Because of Hogarth's height and shape he was an accurate representation of the character we wanted him to play. Hogarth's tallness and big build gives off a 'don't mess with me' vibe and threatening appearence.
Patrick Bloomfield as Sean McLennan

Ralf Kendall as Connor Malone.

These two fine gentlemen were the original choices for the charactors of Sean McLennan and Connor Malone but, unfortunately it was against school regulations to use your teachers as our charactors so we had no option but to give them up. As these two characters were the ones who did the dirty work in the Callaghan family (hence the dumping of the dead body) we thought Kendall and Bloomfield looked appropriate - their facial features aren't gangster like therefore suitable to do the dirty work without drawing suspicion to themselves from members of the public. We tried to find replacements to substitute Kendall and Bloomfield as well as we could, however we were running out of time to film other scenes, edit the film...etc so we went with people who were not completely right for the roles.
The two actors we decided to substitute them:

Josh Rowe as Sean McLennan

Louis Martin as Connor Malone
As you can see from the pictures (and see the charactor profiles for Sean McLennan and Connor Malone) Martin and Rowe are a bit too young for the roles we give them. Nevertheless, the Callaghan family could have newer, younger workers instead and the guys' facial features are not ganster like either so in the end we still got what we wanted.
